Is Infrared safe?

We experience far infrared every day from the sun and from everything around us – literally. All objects in our world, ourselves included, emit infrared every second of the day.

We experience infrared in many different ways. While our eyes can’t see infrared light, thermal imaging cameras are sensitive to it and produce images of infrared emissions (in effect, representing temperature) as different colours.  Security sensors operate largely by detecting the infrared profile of moving bodies; remote controls control our devices via infrared. Computers use infrared ports to transfer data, and though they deliver most of their heat by convection, traditional radiators also emit far infrared.

The operating temperature of a NexGen product is almost identical to that of the human body, so the wavelength of infrared emitted by NexGen is the same as that emitted by the human body.

In fact, an area of NexGen ceiling of 60cm x 60cm produces the same amount of infrared at the same wavelength (i.e. same energy level) as an adult human! Infrared is all around us – and we produce infrared to warm our surroundings too!

Going beyond merely being safe, infrared has been shown to exhibit many health benefits. Infrared has been shown to improve blood and oxygen delivery around the body, and infrared therapies are used for arthritis, muscle pain and relief of joint stiffness.

More dramatically, NexGen eliminates the life-threatening scourge of damp and mould. Far Infrared penetrates directly into walls, evaporating embedded moisture and mobilising it into the air. The moisture can then be easily removed via ventilation systems or dehumidification. A home can be dried out in a week, compared to multiple months for traditional methods of heating and circulating hot air.

On an ongoing basis, NexGen humidity sensors identify conditions for damp and mould formation and automatically activate NexGen for a short heating cycle, preventing damp from returning.

Further, infrared can be better for respiratory functions. Conventional convection systems move air around and circulate irritant dust particles that can worsen allergies and exacerbate respiratory conditions such as asthma. NexGen reduces disturbance of the air by heating objects and people directly. Users report a dramatic drop in asthma symptoms and a much better quality of life.

The core NexGen product itself is designed to be ultra-safe. It operates at ultra-low voltage, its application on the ceiling keeps it out of reach, and its low surface temperatures mean that even if you do reach up to the ceiling, you can’t burn yourself.
