Overhead Raft
The NexGen raft is designed to provide cost-effective comfort warmth for people in large open areas such as warehouses, factories, halls or reception areas.
A simple and efficient way to warm people in factories, warehouses and open areas
Many large workspaces such as factories and warehouses are prohibitively expensive to heat; warm air rises, so heating air in a high bay building in winter can be a futile and wasteful exercise. In contrast, NexGen’s raft provides comfort warmth to the area directly below it by delivering gentle infrared energy to people and surfaces in that space. The heating is largely directional, so rather than being lost to convection, most of the energy goes via infrared directly into the surfaces and people below the raft.
A single raft can provide comfort warmth to a workspace in a large, open warehouse which is otherwise unheated. This ability to heat individual workspaces means that organisations can save money by avoiding heating a huge space with only a few people in it. The raft warms up within minutes, so the workspace only needs to be heated while the worker is present. This avoid the expense of heating the facility gradually, in advance of the area being occupied.
Core NexGen technology powers each raft
NexGen rafts are made of high performance insulation panels covered with NexGen’s proprietary infrared paper. The standard size (2400 x 1200mm) is suitable for a typical workspace. They can be either suspended from a ceiling or supported by an easily-assembled frame which has been designed for robust workplace environments. High performance workspace lighting can be added to the raft to further improve working conditions.
Ultra-low voltage electricity for safety
Each raft is wired into an ultra-low voltage electrical transformer which is mounted above the raft – this is supplied by a standard mains connection. The power for each raft is simply controlled by a switch.
We use low-voltage power for two reasons: First, it’s much safer – even if you manage to damage the unit and short-circuit the power supply, an electric shock would not be dangerous to human health. Second, a low voltage supply heats the tile very gently, so the surface temperature of the tile remains low – typically in the range of 40-50C. This provides a gentle, comfortable warmth in the area under the tiles, and in the event that someone reaches up to touch the ceiling, there is no risk of fingers being burned.
Designed for safety, durability and reuse
NexGen rafts are designed for a rough workplace environment; the heating elements come with a 15 year warranty and are water-resistant and fireproof. The raft itself can be either suspended from a ceiling or fixed into a purpose-built frame.
Rafts are also easily transferrable; if a change of location is needed, the entire structure can be removed and reinstalled in other locations.
NexGen rafts heat our staff in own factory. Our staff are warm and we don’t need to heat the storage-related parts of the facility or the very large overhead spaces.
Low Carbon Solution: NexGen rafts are powered by electricity – the cleanest form of power – and particularly when combined with solar panels and batteries, can produce a truly zero carbon heating solution. Property owners are extremely keen to encourage tenants to find low carbon ways of heating buildings because impending energy efficiency rules will mean that buildings are not lettable without meeting minimum energy efficiency ratings. NexGen rafts can make the difference!
Cost-effective comfort warmth
NexGen rafts are extremely energy-efficient – they avoid the need to heat an entire warehouse!
Here’s why:
NexGen’s Far Infrared heats people (and objects) directly; we feel the warmth on our skin as we do in sunlight.
We feel warmer, even with a lower ambient air temperature, when being warmed by far infrared; in this way, NexGen provides comfort warmth without heating the entire air mass within the building.
NexGen rafts warm only the area directly below them, leaving unused areas unheated and minimising energy wastage. A single raft is enough to warm one workspace.
NexGen doesn’t just warm up—it practically sprints to comfort warmth in as little as 1-2 minutes. This means we don’t have to heat a workspace for long periods when we’re not there, just to warm it up for when we do arrive.
Saving money
NexGen sips electricity – but there are still more savings to be had!
More comfortable workers
= lower churn
= lower recruitment costs & more experienced staff
Rafts can be easily suspended from or fixed onto existing structures, and can be removed and redeployed elsewhere.
Zero scheduled maintenance and a 15-year warranty
Safety and control
NexGen rafts run on ultra-low voltage electricity so they’re ultra-safe. They are very light, and operate at low temperatures, so you can’t burn yourself by touching them.
Smart controls: Each raft can have its own zone and can be controlled individually by a timer or a thermostat (or both) via our smart app, or other building management systems. It’s easy to control temperatures and timers in each zone.
Cost-effective for warehouses and large communal spaces
- Ideal for large, draughty or poorly insulated warehouses.
- Suitable for placement above desks, workstations, and communal areas like kitchens and breakout spaces.
- Also suitable for sports halls and large reception areas
- Rafts can be easily repositioned and reused based to meet changing workspace layout.
