Controllable, comfortable warmth for care home residents and staff

NexGen delivers controllable and comfortable warmth to care homes. Heating can be managed either centrally or locally, by app or by physical thermostat. NexGen reduces carbon emissions and lowers CAPEX, energy and maintenance bills.

A low (or zero) carbon solution

NexGen is a low-carbon solution for heating homes, and particularly when combined with solar panels and batteries, can produce a truly zero carbon solution. We partner with major national distributors and installers of solar panels and smart batteries for integrated solutions. We also work with finance partners to fund large-scale roll-outs of these systems.

Low CAPEX requirements and zero scheduled maintenance

NexGen products are inexpensive to purchase and quick and easy to install. There’s no need to retrofit plumbing, find external space for heating units; even insulation is less critical in a NexGen installation.

There are no moving parts in a NexGen system, so there’s no need for regular maintenance. Our  products are fixed to the ceiling so they are out of the way; our transformers (in this picture) are usually located in a cupboard, so also out of the way. NexGen products come with a 15 year warranty as standard.

Highly efficient and very comfortable

Humans feel NexGen’s infrared directly – like feeling warm sunshine on your skin – so we don’t rely on heated air to feel warm. It still feels comfortable with a lower air temperature – which means that we don’t use as much energy.

Residents and staff report that they really like the gentle, dry warmth that NexGen provides. Far infrared is generally associated with pain relief, improved circulation and muscle recovery.

Care home room

Easy to control

Each room is a ‘zone’ – a resident can set the temperature for their own room, or the staff can do it for them, via either the in-room thermostat or a smart app.

NexGen has a solution for all types of room, not just bedrooms, and all can be controlled seamlessly, via the same system. NexGen tiles slot into suspended ceiling grids, and suspended rafts are ideal for open, communal areas.

More effective in hard-to-heat properties

NexGen’s far infrared heats people and objects directly and does not rely on air to transmit warmth. NexGen also stores energy (‘thermal mass’) in the fabric of the room, so the room cools down very slowly. This helps to make NexGen less sensitive to poor insulation, so it’s a great alternative for hard-to-heat properties.

Insulation is always welcome (even for NexGen homes), but it can also be very expensive and disruptive to install. NexGen’s ceiling paper itself optionally comes with insulated backing to maximise energy efficiency.

Uniform warmth

NexGen ceiling paper covers all of the ceiling of a room. This ensures uniform and even distribution of warmth and avoids cold spots. It removes the need for radiators, turning all wall and floor areas into valuable living space.

Safer and healthier

Traditional convection systems circulate irritant particles that worsen allergies and exacerbate respiratory conditions such as asthma. NexGen heats people and objects directly, leaving dust particles undisturbed. Infrared systems are widely believed to offer other therapeutic benefits.

NexGen runs on ultra-low voltage electricity so it’s ultra-safe. It operates at low surface temperatures, so you can’t burn yourself by touching NexGen.
